Baby

I’m not scared to adore you,
Or reveal my affection,
Not even of your possible and likely rejection.
Confess it, I may, after alcohol like all men do.

The thought of being a friend, or friendly,
Is welcomed and announced,
What I fear is a single word to be pronounced.
It would present my callous end certainly.

If you were ever to look at me,
And a voice from an omnipotent
Whispered the word, ‘indifferent’
Then my heart in half happy it would never be.
